I succeeded in Illustrator during this Zine project, especially since it was my first experience with the software. I also enjoyed using Illustrator the most, struggling a bit with Photoshop. Although I understand most of the technical aspects of Photoshop, I don't love collages and therefore struggled to find compositions. I think the cohesiveness in my project is what would make it most successful, I attempted to use similar imagery and coloring. This project was communicating the song “Peach Pit” By Peach Pit. Each image depicts a verse. I at first, juggled with a bunch of different songs, but thought “Peach Pit” had a sweet theme to it and would be feasible to depict semi-accurately through images. I made my images in order from verse to verse, then worked on the front and back covers. I think the most difficult aspect for me was coming up with some of the compositions, especially in Photoshop, and making sure they accurately depict the lyrics. I was proud of some of my images, the one depicting “Apple's core, cyanide seed” and the one of the man taking a bite of the fruit. I think next time something I would do differently is not choosing lyrics to follow from a song. Maybe, in hindsight, I would have done every page to represent a certain Peach Pit song. I think this would have made the colleges easier. I believe I struggled with them so much because I had limited content through the lyrics to work with. I think in the future I would like to work with both these software more but especially photoshop, since I think I’m not as good in photoshop as I am in illustrator. Although, I think illustrator is more fun to work with and am excited to experiment with that as well.
