This article is extremely important as the world and art become more digitized. Physical media is becoming a thing of the past, and, in my opinion, digital media lacks the same authenticity as digital media. It is much easier to change and tweak digital media, for example changing lyrics to a song or removing something from an image. This makes it easier to interpret images differently than their original intent. I think this is a huge reason why visual literacy is so important.  We need to be able to fully understand how all the media we are taking every day affects us, the context of it, the implications culturally and globally, and so much more. We need to be able to recognize media that has been edited or twisted towards a certain narrative. I believe this is a huge factor in why it is so important we integrate visual literacy into our education and teach people how to effectively and safely engage in the digital world. The article explains how visual literacy is not learned just by going on the internet, it needs to be integrated into schools. Moreover, I believe that younger children and older adults are especially susceptible to scams and propaganda on the internet, and may not be able to recognize it. I think this is a huge part of visual literacy, being able to identify something false or a scam. The internet is an extensive space, and not knowing how to navigate it can put you at risk.
